Double Security Door Guide
To answer your question, yes we can make double door versions of our security doors! See below for more info about what this entails.
Double Door Sizing
First of all, we need to establish which situations actually require a double door. The average width of a single door is between 800 and 900mm. However, going slightly above this, say 1000- 1100mm wide is not unheard of. Any larger than 1200mm wide is a good indicator that you may be in need of a double door, mostly because one single door this wide would look a bit silly. Generally however, as security door are always being installed in front of a main door, we can make whatever matches.
How are double doors built?
Double doors feature an "active door" and an "inactive door". The active door features the handle and lock, and is the one you would use to traverse through the door way regularly. The inactive door is what the active door closes against, and stays shut in place for the majority of its life. It is still put on hinges so if you need you can open it up. Keeping the inactive door in place are patio bolts, one at the top and one at the bottom. If you're not familiar with patio bolts, they feature a rod that slides up or down into a drilled hole in the ceiling or floor. These can be easily locked or unlocked.
